Honey & beekeeping from Taisten

Our bee colonies stand on the flower meadows around Taisten, at a good 1,200 m – and in summer in the high country, where the Alpine rose blooms. Small harvests, short distances: straight from the hive into the jar, and from our door to yours.

Gold Diploma – Euregio Honey Award 2025

Award-winning quality

Two Gold Diplomas

At the 1st Euregio Honey Award in Terlan in December 2025, both honeys we entered received the Gold Diploma – each with 100 out of 110 points, and full marks in all three categories of the sensory assessment.

The laboratory of the Imkerhof Salzburg measured invertase values of 196 and 218 against a minimum of 37.5, and an HMF content below 5 mg/kg – both hallmarks of fresh honey that has never been heated.

Both diplomas as PDF, around 270 KB each.

From dandelion to Alpine rose

In late April the dandelion turns the valley meadows golden. When that bloom is over, some of our colonies move up above 1,500 m: there, from mid-June to mid-July, the Alpine rose flowers. Its honey is among the rarest single-origin honeys in the Alps – the bloom is short, the sites are high, the yields are small. That is exactly what makes it so special.

The honey harvest

Once the combs are capped, the handwork begins: uncapping, spinning, filling. Every single jar passes through our own hands – from the hive to the label.
